idol 7: the boys (10)
The first boys out of the starting gate this week gave us some rather tepid performances. Not anything that made me want to cover my ears, but nothing that got me excited either.
The first good performance was David H. with Papa Was A Rolling Stone. I like this guy a lot.
The judges really liked Chikeze. I wasn't crazy about the song (I Believe to My Soul), but his vocals were good. I would have sent him home last week. He redeemed himself somewhat with this performance, although I don't think he'll become a favorite.
David C. rocked it with All Right Now. He sounded good, and I liked the guitar. He looked very comfortable on the stage, too.
David A. brought the show to a close with Imagine. Wow. Take on John Lennon, why dontcha? This kid has so much talent. He made this song his own. Loved it! (Simon just said it was "risky" to do that song, so I guess he agreed with me about taking on Lennon.)
My top two: David A and David H. Off to text my votes on my iPhone.

David H did well tonight.
David A really was good. One would be hard for anyone to sing after John, and David A did "make it his own". I love this guy. He is the next American Idol--and not in a Doolittle kind of way.
I also liked Danny, he surprised me tonight.
David C was my 4th choice. He needs to do something with his bangs.

Robin, I agree 100% with you! Those two were definitely the best. My wife and I both just LOVE Archeleta! Or however that's spelled! He is so cute...and he absolutely OWNED "Imagine." And I'm really glad he chose not to sing the first verse. Hernandez also was really good. Chikeze surprised us this week. I didn't know the song, but he did well. And David Cook rocked. Just like you said, those were the best four. I really, really, really hope that Danny Noriega goes home this week. I cannot stand him. Makes my skin crawl.

I totally agree again. Those are the two I voted for. Right now I think David A. is the one to beat.

David Archuleta knocked my socks off ... seeing such a young man singing with such authenticity just warmed my heart ... it was like he was inviting us older folks to dream with him.
