films that make you tear up

MV5BMTQ0MzQ4ODQzNV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNTY2NzI0MQ@@._V1._SY140_SX100_.jpg This afternoon, TCM (one of my favorite channels) had on The Natural. Even better, they had it on in widescreen, the only way to really enjoy movies made since the invention of Cinemascope. Anyway, I love this movie. There is just something about it.

No matter how many times I've seen it, I still tear up when Roy Hobbs connects with that ball at the end of the movie and it soars across the field and shatters the lights and sparks go flying everywhere. In fact, I can chance upon just the last five minutes of The Natural and still tear up over that scene. It just does that to me.

So what about you? Are there any movies that you can see time and time again and they still make you cry?

We watch White Christmas every December, and I always cry at the end scene when all the soldiers stand up and start singing, "We'll follow the old man..." Gets me every single year.

I gotta tell you Robin, I think you have recommended some of the best movies I've ever watched. I think I read about Martian Child here recently and I loved it. I'm really not a crier at movies (I prefer to hold it in until I get a giant headache and lump in my throat!) But Akeelah and the Bee and Finding Forrester always bring a torrent on - anything having to do with teaching. I always watch them in private though!

Carrie, that scene in White Christmas makes me tear up, too. I forgot about that one.

Thanks, Dianne. I'm glad you enjoy the movie recommendations.

I do the same thing on The Natural as well. Another one I cry on every single time is Return to Me. BTW... I completely agree with Dianne about your great movie recommendations. I BAWLED during the Last Sin Eater. On a more cheery note though, Robin Hood season 2 began tonight on BBC America. My family just can't thank you enough for that recommendation. We so enjoy sitting down together and watching this. Have a blessed Sunday!

I always cry at the end of Sense and Sensibilities. It's laughters and tears together. I always cry and laugh in Steel Magnolias and Terms of Endearment. A few weeks ago, I happened upon Brian's Song. I hadn't seen that in at least fifteen years or more and what did I do? Cried. Sounds like I cry all the time, but I don't.

My husband and I both bawled at Martian Child, and it's ALL YOUR FAULT!! Ha. I have to give a little credit to John Cusack, though. I also bawl EVERY time I watch the end of Serendipity, which is fairly often.

Brian's Song about Brian Piccolo, the late Bear's player. There is also that movie about the former Raider's and Penn State player who won the Heismen Trophy back in the early 70's. He had a younger brother who got very sick and had to relearn eveyrthing.

Okay... I always bawl when I see that scene in "Serendipity" when they FINALLY get together! ALSO has anyone noticed that scene in "Pride and Prejudice" (with Keira Knightley) when she goes out in the early morning (with fog) and he is coming across the meadow too...they meet and well (sigh) I'm bawling! There are so many movies that make me bawl and I LOVE it! I also bawl with movies like "Bambi" and "Meet the Robinsons" so...what does that make me? A Cry Baby I guess LOL.
