Yes, last night was a bad night. But it was bad in a good way.
The moment I shut off the light and curled into my favorite go-to-sleep position, my brain went from tired to firing on all pistons in an instant. I suddenly knew exactly what the next scene in my WIP needed to be. I could hear the things that Jeremiah, a key secondary character, needed to say to Diana, my heroine. I knew precisely what her feelings were going to be, how she would and would not respond.
Like a cameraman on a movie set, I kept seeing the scene over and over again from different angles, and I caught glimpses of what scenes could follow depending if I did this, that, or the other. While it was tempting to get up and work, I didn't because today, being Sunday, meant the alarm was going to go off in a few short hours. Even so, my brain didn't quiet down any too soon.
This morning, as soon as I was showered, I dashed into the office and got the barebones of the scene written. Felt good. But I did yawn more than normal during the sermon and not because it wasn't inspiring. Our pastors always preach amazing sermons.
However … Yawn … I see a nap in my immediate future.
